Water & Wastewater
The inspectors at a wastewater treatment plant in Oregon found a large hole in a raw sewage pipe near a railroad crossing. The operator reached out to Advanced FRP for a solution. A large repair kit was used to reinforce the pipe with a five-layer, high-strength composite system. The repair will provide fifty years of continued service, despite the large through-wall failure.
Oil & Gas
An oil and natural gas production company had two through-wall failures on an oil pipeline coming from the tank farm at their oil terminal. After the pipes were drained and grit blasted, a carbon fiber repair kit was installed over the through-wall failures and the pipes were put back in service in less than 72 hours.
Landfill Facility
A PVC exhaust pipe in a landfill facility had uneven swelling at the joint between the steel and PVC pipe sections, and was leaking gases. Due to the uneven swelling, an external coupling could not be installed. A carbon fiber repair kit was used to join the steel and the PVC sections and permanently stop the leak.
